BANA to Hold 2024 Spring Meeting March 25–27
at the American Printing House for the Blind

The Braille Authority of North America (BANA) will hold its 2024 spring meeting in Louisville, KY, March 25 through 27. The American Printing House for the Blind (APH), a BANA member association, is hosting the meeting, which will be held at the APH facility.

On Monday, March 25, and Tuesday, March 26, the meeting will be held from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On Wednesday, March 27, BANA will meet from 9:00 AM till noon. The APH location is 1839 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206.

This semi-annual face-to-face meeting follows BANA’s fall meeting, which was held at the Perkins School for the Blind. The officers of BANA for 2024 were elected at that meeting and are as follows:

Chair: Jen Goulden (CNIB)

Vice Chair: Mary Nelle McLennan (Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired)

Secretary: Amber Pearcy (National Braille Press)

Treasurer: Danette Johnson (Hadley)

Past Chair: Tamara Rorie (National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled)

Items on the BANA Board’s spring agenda include a review of formal reports from BANA's technical committees, such as Nemeth, Chemistry, and Tactile Graphics, as well as its general committees and task forces, such as the BANA General Committee on UEB and the Outreach Committee. BANA members will act on recommendations and will issue committee charges when appropriate.

Interested parties are invited to observe the BANA Board’s semi-annual meetings. If you are interested in attending as an observer, please contact BANA Chair Jen Goulden at 613-552-4191 or by email at chair@brailleauthority.org no later than Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

The mission of the Braille Authority of North America is to assure literacy
for tactile readers through the standardization of braille and/or tactile graphics.
